One Salt Water is a Christian community development organisation whose aim is to support individuals in health, well-being, spiritual growth, Bible engagement, culture and arts.
The group arranges overseas volunteer missions to provide medical health services to improve the general well-being in the community. The missions are generally directed at assisting areas in the South Pacific like Vanuatu, where funding and access to healthcare facilities is low. Founder, Dr Danny Lean was born in Papua New Guinea and holds a strong connection to the people of the Pacific Islands, after witnessing first-hand the extent of the medical service deficiency.
Lending a helping hand
We became aware of the organisation through a customer who was a volunteer for the 2017 trip. Raising funds and supplies via crowdfunding, she approached us for a donation of our sterile instruments which we were very happy to provide.
The mission in action
Upon arriving in Vanuatu, the team visited Mangaliliu village where conditions to perform dental screenings were challenging. The lack of electricity and the inability to sterilise equipment did not deter the team from treating around 130 officially recorded patients and hundreds of school children.
