Single Use Dental Instruments in Cologne Germany

Our team recently had the pleasure of attending the 37th International Dental Show which was held in Cologne, Germany. Since the first international show in 1928, IDS are firmly established as the global leading trade fair for dentistry and dental technology. The biannual show provides the perfect opportunity to gain insight into the advanced technologies, innovations, product developments and new services to be introduced to the industry.

Located in the heart of Europe, the show was easily accessible for our UK team. Easter to feast their eyes on the latest and greatest technologies, we were not disappointed. Near 2,300 exhibitors from over 60 countries presented their pioneering ideas over the five days and gave us a sneak peak at what the future holds for dentistry.

The trends identified were undeniable within the developing technology of 3D scanning. Some of our team were fortunate enough to witness this in action with a live demon of a crown creation.  The new technology allows patients to have crowns sized and fitted all in one session.

Virtual reality is paving the way for the Future of Dentistry

Other highlights included the ever-growing popularity of implant technology and fascinating interactive Virtual Reality Systems, which enable training through a digital space and could be the future of teaching dentistry at schools.

From state-of-the-art cameras to organic toothbrushes, there was so much to take in at the show. The variety of concepts on offer highlighted the scale and importance of the industry. What will IDS 2019 hold? Given the rapid developments in dental technology, it’s anyone’s guess what will be possible by then!
